演讲题目:文化和家庭因素对青少年攻击行为的影响

 

演讲内容简介:

This talk discusses three studies that investigate the cultural and familial
influences on youth aggression. The first study examines how cultural values
(i.e., individualism and collectivism) relate to Chinese adolescents’
aggression. Results show that adolescents’ endorsement of collectivism was
negatively related to their use of overt and relational aggression as
reported by teachers and peers, whereas positive associations were found
between the endorsement of individualism and adolescent aggression. The
intrapersonal factors, conflict level and social status insecurity, mediated
these associations. The second study examines the familial influences on
Chinese children’s aggression. Consistent with previous research, coercive
control and psychological control showed positive associations with children’s overt and relational aggression, which varied by parent-child gender. The
significant mediation effects of interparental conflict styles showed that
paternal overt conflict positively related to boys’ aggression via paternal
coercive control and that maternal covert conflict positively related to
boys’ aggression via psychological control. At last, the third study
employs a longitudinal design to examine the influences of parental cultural
values and parenting behaviors on Chinese adolescents’ aggression. Maternal
cultural values on collectivism and social harmony positively related to
parental warmth-reasoning, which, in turn, was negatively related to
adolescents’ overt aggression two years later. Additionally, maternal
endorsement on social harmony was negatively related to their use of
psychological control, which, in turn, positively related to adolescents’
relational aggression two years later. Discussions regarding how to examine
youth aggression employing a cultural-familial systems perspective are
provided.

李彦博士1997-2001年就读于北京大学心理系并获得本科学历,于2001年去美国杜克大学攻读儿童发展心理学博士,师从儿童心理学家 Dr. Martha Putallaz。于2007 年获得博士学位之后,在美
国德堡大学工作至今。李彦博士从事儿童社会性发展的研究。主要研究题目包括青少年的攻击行为,受欢迎因素,家庭和文化对儿童朋伴关系的影响。

演讲题目:Teacher-Child Interaction Training: An Early Childhood Prevention
Program

 

 

演讲内容简介:

This study describes the development and evaluation of a prevention program
for preschool children to promote school readiness skills. The results show
that teachers increased their classroom management skills and rated children
as improved following training.

 

演讲人简介:

Karen S. Budd, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychology and Director of Clinical
Training at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. She conducts research on
prevention and intervention programs for young children with disruptive
behavior problems, as well as on cultural differences in parenting. In 2004,
she was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in Prague, Czech Republic.
